Abiqua School is a Federally tax-exempt,
non-profit educational organization governed by a volunteer
Board of Trustees. This Board is comprised of parents, alumni
and community leaders with an interest in exceptional education.
The Board of Trustees is accountable for the strategic
management, policy development, and for the long term success
and stability of Abiqua. The Head of School, who is selected and
supported by the Board, holds full responsibility for the daily
operations of the school.
The Board of Trustees works in partnership with the Head of the
School to guide the school. The Board’s governance
responsibilities fall in three major areas:
Leadership and Vision
The Board champions Abiqua’s vision of a thriving learning
community purposefully committed to excellence and achieving our
full potential as both individuals and responsible contributing
members of society.
Through a comprehensive and inclusive strategic planning
process, the Board supports faculty and staff in carrying out
Abiqua’s mission:
Nurturing
curious, imaginative and constructive thinkers;
enthusiastic lifelong learners;
and compassionate world citizens
by providing an exceptional academic environment.
Stewardship and Accountability
The Board advises the Head of the School in prudent financial
planning and execution, as well as diligent, innovative and
transparent policy making. The Board works with the Head of the
school to ensure that all curriculum, programs and crucial
policies have specific goals and a process for evaluation,
reporting and recommendations for improvements.
Relationship Building, Advocacy and
Outreach
The Board seeks parental input and advocates for Abiqua in the
local community. The Board is charged with creating connections
with all those who have a stake in Abiqua’s success.
We welcome and encourage Abiqua families to share their thoughts
and ideas with the Board. Please feel free to contact us if you
